The investment of 105 million U.S. dollars monthly factory can produce 8 million cell phone batteries, will employ 500 staff. Sony announced last August in Singapore this laptop battery manufacturing plant construction projects to meet the fast-growing demand for lithium-ion polymer battery. Currently about half of lithium-ion polymer battery used in cell phones, the other half is used in notebook computers, cameras and other electronic products.
Earlier this month Sony announced the next two years raising 365 million U.S. dollars investment in lithium-ion Inspiron 5100 battery production project. The investment will be used in Japan for construction of the new production line and the existing production lines for technological transformation. Sony is expected in Japan, the additional capacity that will allow the company Inspiron 700m battery units from the current monthly output of 41 million in 2010 to 74 million.
